Born in St. Louis, his parents took one look at his sweet, innocent newborn face and thought “yep, he’s a Larry.” Why Larry? Who knows? This was pre-Seinfeld, pre-Curb Larry David. Perhaps it was Larry — of the Larry, Mo, and Curly variety?
Little Larry soon discovered the five working channels on the family TV and became hopelessly addicted to movies, TV shows and commercials. So obviously, he entered college as a pre-med at Washington University. To his parents’ displeasure, it only took him a year to realize that biology, chemistry and anything to do with Avogadro's number were not his friends. Advertising, on the other hand, was.
Cut to years later, and Larry had fallen in love again—this time with production. As a creative at DDB Chicago, he dreamed up funny, award-winning campaigns and Super Bowl spots for McDonald’s, Dell and State Farm, working with directors who still inspire him to this day. That’s when he knew directing was his calling.
Since then, Larry has crafted 30-second narratives for such clients as Frito-Lay, Smithfield and Heineken Light. To feed his storytelling addiction, he’s written, produced and directed numerous comedic short films, music videos and web series—winning awards and playing in film festivals around the globe. And, to finally earn his parents’ love and approval, he even cast himself as a doctor in one of those films.
