Phedon Papamichael, ASC, GSC is a director and cinematographer who is unafraid of pushing emotion to the forefront. He is renowned as one of the world’s great director/cinematographers, widely admired for his ability to craft deeply affecting stories, which feature Oscar-worthy imagery.
In addition to long form directing, Papamichael’s portfolio of commercials is extensive. Most recently he wrapped spots for Green Cola, Aegean Airlines and Coffee Island in Europe. He has also directed commercials for Volkswagen, Infiniti, and Laughing Man Coffee which is owned and stars Hugh Jackman.
Papamichael’s work as a director of photography is equally as diverse. For his gorgeous black-and-white cinematography on Alexander Payne’s highly acclaimed feature film Nebraska, Papamichael earned an Oscar Nomination. His film with Payne, Downsizing, starring Matt Damon, was released in the United States on Dec. 22, 2017. Phedon’s newest film, Ford versus Ferrari starring Christian Bale and Matt Damon, is the true story of the battle between Ford and Ferrari to win Le Mans in 1966.
